Jesse Draxler is a fine artist, illustrator, and designer currently living in LA, from Minneapolis, raised in Wisconsin.
In this untitled selection of pieces chosen to show at Smashbox Studios, Draxler brings us a body of work consisting of deconstructed portraits and abstract paintings exploring themes of profound confusion, absurdity, technological singularity, and nihilism, presented as artifacts in his own personal mythology.
Draxler’s work has been described as “mysterious yet poignant”, “powerful and full of attitude”, and “weirdly sexual and visually challenging images of deconstructed beauty”. Australian jewelry atelier Alicia Hannah Naomi has said “His contemporary monochromatic works have a dark and elegantly primal quality that borders on the grotesque” and most recently painter Antony Micallef has described his work as “poetic.”
Draxler’s client list includes The New York Times, Target, and musicians Chelsea Wolfe, The Black Queen, and Prince. His work has also been published in countless magazines, books, and noteworthy blogs such as Dansk, the Alexander Mcqueen Instagram, Beautiful/Decay, and Dazed Digital.
His exhibition list is just as impressive including shows across the US from LA to New York, as well as international shows in Germany, Spain, and France.
